Feature Footage Friday: Patience Standing Up

One of the bigger ideas that I’ve been teaching and focusing on with my athletes is the idea of patience before standing up from the snatch. Far too often I see lifters miss a lift ONLY because they rush out of the bottom and lose the lockout overhead. Be patient when standing up from the bottom of an overhead squat. The added stability may save your lift. Here’s a video of Haden demo starting this exact problem with his 250# snatch make compared to his 260# snatch miss.

  1. It also looks like in the top video his left foot is more turned out than in the bottom one, causing him to become unstable. Would pausing for a second have allowed him to fix that before standing up?
